In the week ahead, the first wave of economic data for the start of the second quarter 2011 continues with retail sales numbers and some of the inflation indicators. There will also be an early take on consumer confidence for the month of May.
The pace remains brisk for the release of first quarter earnings reports.
Economic Data
Just as the April employment report will set the tone for the labor market in the second quarter, the April numbers on retail sales scheduled for release at 8:30 ET on Thursday will influence the outlook for consumer spending.
